EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that uses bilateral stimulation using eye movements and/or tapping to support the healing of trauma. It involves less talking than traditional therapy and is empowering to clients.

In any type of counseling approach, it is important that you feel safe with your therapist and have developed resources/coping tools before processing your trauma. EMDR therapy includes building rapport/trust with your therapist and building up your resources for managing strong emotions that could surface during and/or between sessions. EMDR has 8 phases of treatment, more information is provided on the EMDRIA website:  https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/experiencing-emdr-therapy/
